「It looks like there’s no need, to hold back on my target huh……」
「JP? And so, what are you planning to do? I don’t have a melee job but I can supportーー」

And just like that, from the shadowsーーJunpei went out of the blind spot and started to walk towards the middle-aged man,
「Eh?!」
Ami cannot be blamed that she would let out a voice of surprise.
After all, it only looked like he had no plans at all. No matter who looks at it, it is a head-on fight without a doubt.
「You’re, my pair……? No……target, huh? Why did you not launch a surprise attack?」
Towards the man who asked dubiously, Junpei answered with a shrug of his shoulders.
「Well, starting now, I’m going to steal your important think. I just thought, as courtesy for that……I’ll fight you head on」
「I don’t know what you’re talking about, but well……I’ll think of it that I don’t need to waste time searching for you」
Raising the large axe with both his hands, the plump middle-aged man lowers his stance and prepared for battle.
However, Junpei stopped him with his hand.
「Before fighting, I have a suggestion」
「Suggestion?」
“Yeah”, Junpei nodded and pointed to the right direction.
「There’s an open space just right there. Ossan is completely a melee power fighter right?」
Did he feel funny about something, receiving Junpei’s words, the middle-aged man answered with a light scoff of amusement.
「Where the hell in this world do you think would a magician or a thief or a ranger will carry a large axe?」
「As you can see, I’m lightly armored……completely the speedy type. Are you planning on swinging around your large shield in this place full of trees and bushes? If we’re fighting here……I’m at an overwhelming advantage you know?」
The middle-aged man dubiously narrowed his eyebrows.
「You don’t launch a surprise attack, and do not take advantage of the terrain……what the heck are you planning?」
There was no way that he was going to use the Skill Hunt ability in front of Ami.
The Skill Hunt is basically a skill out of common sense in this world. There was no need to uselessly stand out.
「I’m telling you I’ll fight you head on. I don’t like bullying the weak after all. I thought that I’ll at least, make you show all your strength」
「Fight head-on? You brat……don’t get too cheeky? Do you know? Those arrogant with their power are the first ones to die in battlefields」
「It’s not arrogance but confidence……no, I could say, conviction?」
Towards Junpei who said it casually, the middle-aged man popped a vein in his temples.
「According to the rules, I can’t kill, but……you’re quite lucky huh, it looks like losing all limbs is fine?」
「Don’t worry. I’m nicer than you……I’ll let you off half-dead」
It was really an exchange of words.
Junpei gestured the middle-aged man to follow him using his jaw. And at the same time, he said while waving his hand towards Ami inside the bush.
「I’ll return after 30 minutes. Ami……don’t move there and wait」
That battle axe, how much weight does it have.
Inside the woodlands full of trees and bushes, *Bassa, Bassa*, the sound of cutting trees echoed.
The axe that gained destructive powers with weight and speed, it destroyed the woodlands, easily cutting the hard trees.
And to that scene, Junpei rolled his eyes.

The middle-aged man grinned.

「There’s no difference since you’re going to be defeated with one blow, but……getting defeated without knowing the skills of the man who you lost to……you would hate it right?」
“Haa〜……”. Junpei made a wry laugh.
「Well, do what you want」

The thick blades of the axe were swung around. As if to create a barrier, the axe created a half circle with two-meter radius.
It is a skillful war axe techniquesーーthat would be the honest opinion of common people.
However, unfortunately, the middle-aged man’s opponent is Junpei who survived in a far harsher place.
ーーit’s like a fly have stopped.
Towards Junpei who had such reaction, the man opened his mouth with a proud face.
「Fufu! Making such dumbfounded expressionーーI can see that you’re surprised by my axe skills! What, don’t worry, I won’t take your lifeーー」
And there, the man stopped swinging his axe.
「You……you should be thinking this……why does such a skilled man like me, is partners with John Burg?」
「Eh……?」
Towards the man’s sudden question, a question mark was pasted on Junpei’s expression.
「Well, it cannot be helped that you’ll be dubious about it. In fact……my skills are at the high level of B-Ranks too. No, I might have even reached the territory of A-Rank. I am a man who originally should’ve passed this test a few years ago」

The man was thinking of something deeply.

It looks like, he was not planning on making a conversation after all.

Junpei decided to reply at the minimum.

“Yeah”, the man nodded with satisfaction and opened his mouth.
「Fighting against John 20 years ago, I saw the true power fighter for the first time. not relying on proficiency skills like swordsmanship or close quarter combat techniquesーーthe pure power fighter……」
「He don’t have any skills?」
「No, more specifically, he was born with the skill【Limit Cut】at the Super level. Although there is a time limit on activation, it’s an absurd skill that increases attack powers and defense powers by 750」
“I see, that sounds delicious”
Junpei raised the corner of his lips. “On top of that, I won’t have any worries about feeling guilt against that bastard”, Junpei thought.

Junpei made a sun-bright smile towards the man.
「Skill?」

It’s the phenomena called pump up, but the change that happened to the middle-aged man’s bodyーーit was an exaggerated version of that.

After saying that out loud, the man once again started to swing his axe.
「Listen and be amazed!! This adds 350 attack power and defense powers to the status! Adding the Battle Axe Techniques that I trained with to thatーー」

The man shouted out while swinging his battle axe.
「Take this!! Take this attack that only top class battle axe users can use, this is my GREAT AXEーー!!!」
The battle axe was swung.
From what the man planned, he was going to cut Junpei……just a little bit, he swung his axe so that blood would come out just a little bit. It is to plant fear on Junpei. He planned on making Junpei know that he was holding back, make him understand the difference with their skills. That was the man’s plan.
「Yoishotto」
A few millimeters.
Junpei moved his body just a little bit, and dodged the battle axe with a distance smaller than a rice.
「n?」
The battle axe, unfortunately, cuts the air.
“How strange……”, while tilting his head, the man once againーーswings his axe.
「Hmph!」
「Hoitto」
Repeat. The attack that grazes one’s skin and the dodge distance smaller than rice.

The man said with a proud face, and swung his axe once again.
And this time, he swung it down straight towards the middle of Junpei’s head.

Making light steps, Junpei dodged casually.
The man lost his words.
After losing himself for a while, the man opened his huge mouth with a dumbfounded expression and said the following.
「Y-You, dodged……? You, you’re jobless right? Why can you dodge my attack?」
「Even if you ask me why……isn’t it just, my status is far higher than yours?」
「No, but, however……but!」
When the man was about to say that, Junpei released a palm attack towards the man’s jaw.
He lost consciousness in an instant showing the white of his eyes, and the man fell down to his knees.
「The skill……thank you for the meal」
After saying just that, Junpei took out a rope from his item box.
That was not the orihalcon rope that he got from the torture man in the labyrinth, but a cheap one that he bought in the town’s general store.

It’s not set up that way. The translator here does this on his/her own time through donations. I don’t believe the author actually receives any funds from this effort as it’s a Fan-lation and not an official translation/publication, since this isn’t a business product, but a volunteer work in translation. It’s like working in the field on a summer day and a neighbor showing up with some lemonade – you didn’t do the work for the drink, but it’s a nice bonus. Note on the Evasion: I just was going by the translation here where it said [Mantle : Cloak of Evasion (Rare : Rank A) Passive that increases the basic Evasion Efficiency to 1.5 times] and not [by 1.5 times]. Translating to English, a lot of the smaller words are often mixed up or changed, such as ‘to’ and ‘by’. In this case, it’s the difference between adding only half again as much (increasing ‘up to’ 1.5 times) or nearly tripling the stat by (increasing ‘by 1.5 times). The formula above used the ‘to’ reference, giving an Evasion stat of 11,550. If the optional reference of ‘by 1.5 times’ was used instead, the Evasion stat would hit an easy 19,250!!!! (7700 + 11,550 = 19,250) The 11,550 would be an increase of 1.5 times the current total, which then would be added into the sum. Simple words such at ‘to’ and ‘by’ can make for HUGE differences in results…
Of course my math may be off.
Now if he also gets the skill:【Limit Cut】(Super Class), it’ll raise both his Attack and Defense Powers by +750, putting them near the 2000 marks, when the time limit is activated (similar to Acceleration skill duration limit).

[[Think that’s all of it up to now. There is one thing I’m unsure of, which is to the lower right of below the skills listed on the Character sheet image – it’s the text in ( ) with the number 1 on the end. I have no idea what that is for, since it is never actually mentioned, that I can recall.]]
Should mention that the Right Hand of the Devil (or whatever it was called) and some other things breezed by in earlier sections, leads me to believe that Junpei has a massive monster ability that is currently dormant/locked/sealed within him. Something that would be equal to or greater than the dragons abilities. The Hand was likely just a piece of that. There’s probably a Left Hand, Feet, Legs… etc. (horns, tail, wings?) and so on.
After all the whole issue with the Dragons looking into him ended up being due to the fact that he is Sealed. Same with the Thesaurus Points. And we may not be done yet with that aspect either…
Interesting tidbit: just how old IS Junpei?! They mentioned somewhere that he’s been caught in an anomaly of time – time for him has been speeding by faster than it has for the other characters he started the series with. So let’s just say they spent a year outside, he may have spent centuries or millennia inside! It talks about this at one point and then discusses the Seal on Junpei and the loss and elimination of memories due to the Seal of the Thesaurus Points.
Basically? He has no way to know how long he’s actually been in the dungeon. There’s even periods of time when he goes from level to level with no recollection of doing so.
It does add to the mystery – just what has Junpei forgotten? What – has he become?
He’s technically listed as something similar to an Undead King for now.
We don’t know if he’d actually age any, since he’s no longer human.
He threw away his humanity when he ate the Undead King’s Flesh in Chapter 2: The Undead King.
…and if he actually does something stupid, such as kissing that girl he’s with, she would die.
His saliva is just as poisonous as the rest of him.
So are his tears, snot, sweat, and what have you…
I thought it was the other way around, he felt he’d only been in the Dungeon for a few months, but it had been years on the outside.

It’s why he’s taking the Exam. If he passed the B-Ranked Exam, then he can select a new job. Now that you mention it, the author seems to use Jobless and Skill Hunter interchangeably, but he doesn’t have one.
The skill he uses – Appraisal Eye – and now he can steal skills from defeated but still living opponents. Before he had to kill to get a random skill drop.
Being Jobless, he started out with 10 empty skill slots. None of the Job-classes started out with this many skill slots. He also gained other skills that fall outside of the 10 slots.
In order to advance further within the dungeon, he is required to have an actual job before he can pass to the next level. Idaten is either the job he later chooses, or a job-skill he later steals from someone else. At the moment, the last three skills haven’t been obtained. That’s later on in the book.
Just from looking over the info, it is possible that he never get the 【Limit Cut】 (Super Class) / +750 Attack and Defense Power skill. I could see it being stolen by the girl with him; stolen by someone else with the same initial jobless state; or the pervert who owns it being killed off by a mob, the dragons (if they return), the other guy from the dungeon, or a random monster/other party. Still, it would be a boost for him to get it.
If Junpei has 10 spots to fill with other skills, how come he has 9 out of those 10 spots filled even tho the status page still says 6 slots remaining? Unless it’s counting those Skill hunter skills that fall outside of the 10 slots? Also when did he get master-class throwing lol
It’s a screw-up by either the author or the translator. The Stat Sheet image is full of errors and in some of the earlier translations, they will tell you about how they are not always sure of what’s what. Basically, they didn’t update the sheet correctly.
Junpei only has 10 skill slots.
He currently is only using 7 of them as of this page of the story, where he gets the 【Explosive Strong Body】 (Master-Class) / +350 Attack Power and Defense Power.
He does not yet have Idaten, Throwing, or Limit Cut. Those haven’t come up in the story as yet. They messed up by including them in the now.
He has only two skills that fall outside the skill slot list: Appraisal and Trash Box. The first lets him get and use new skills. The second allows him to toss out old skills, re-opening those skill slots back up. Together they are where the Skill Hunter Title comes from.
In any case, scroll up to my earlier posts. There’s a better version of Junpei’s actual character sheet there (on this same page). Hope it’s a little more clear.

Skanda was also the first son of the god Shiva and isn’t Shiva the name of the God that sent Junpei here in the first place? (Would have to go back and look)
Sounds like Junpei is going to go beyond SSS+ Rank and jump straight in to the Ranks of the Devils and Gods maybe. Just guessing.
Thanks for the chapter. I was surprise I starting to believe he would not take his skill but I was wrong. He has 1 more skill he can put into his skill set, after he will have to start throwing some way. I am pretty sure this John will be his next target.
